Dr Mawbey is a practising Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) through which she is a member of two specialist divisions: the Division of Neuropsychology and the Division of Clinical Psychology. She is also a member of the Sports Neuropsychology Society.

Dr Mawbey is an accredited Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

She adheres to the best practice standards and policies set forth by the BPS and HCPC. In her clinical work Dr Mawbey follows best-practice guidelines for assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of neurological disorders and injury and mental health difficulties established by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).



Dr Mawbey is a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, working both privately and in the NHS. She is an expert in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation, working with clients with an array of neurological disorders and injuries.

Dr Mawbey has enjoyed work in a wide range of neuropsychological and neurorehabilitation services both in inpatient, outpatient and community services. She has worked with other leading experts in the field, working in multiple centres of national and international excellence, including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, within the University College London Hospital Trust, Great Ormond Street, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, in conjunction with the Institute of Psychiatry  and in neuro-specialist teams at Charing Cross Hospital/Imperial NHS Trust and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

Most recently, Dr Mawbey has worked as Clinical Neuropsychology Lead for Community Neurorehabilitation for West London Mental Health Trust and for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust as Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and Community Neurorehabilitation Neuropsychology Team Lead and Manager. 

Dr Mawbey has worked in a range of community Neuropsychology settings across various boroughs including Lambeth and Southwark, Brent, Camden and Islington and Hertfordshire. 

Inpatient Work

Dr Mawbey has provided expert neuropsychological assessment and formulation, intervention and consultation across multiple specialist inpatient settings. This has included acute, level 1 and level2b neurorehabilitation units, stroke wards, neurosurgical and neurology wards, trauma services and in an Acute Brain Injury Unit.

Community and Outpatient Work
Dr Mawbey has worked in several community neurorehabilitation services, providing diagnostic neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation and psychological therapies to individuals with neurological, neurological and chronic physical health conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, brain tumour, hypoxic brain injuries, stroke and neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease and motor neuron disease.

Dr Mawbey has worked in neurodiagnostic outpatient Neuropsychology services, providing expert opinion on neuropsychological functioning of clients within a diagnostic framework. This work included a specialist stream in a Memory clinic, providing diagnosis for dementias.

Consultation and Teaching
Dr Mawbey provides teaching, consultation and liaison to individuals and associations working with clients and their families who have neurological injuries or conditions.

She is responsible for the supervision of Band 7 Specialist Clinical Psychologists and Band 8A Highly Specialist Clinical Neuropsychologists, as well as Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Band 4 and 5 Assistant Clinical Psychologists and Rehabilitation Assistants. 

Dr Mawbey has provided extensive supervision of Occupational Therapy colleagues around neuropsychological assessment of cognitive dysfunction and cognitive neurorehabilitation. 


Dr Mawbey is the Consultant Sports Neuropsychologist and founder of the Sports Neuropsychology Clinic. 

Sports Neuropsychology is a specialist field with close ties to Clinical Neuropsychology and Sports Psychology. Dr Mawbey works with athletes and their affiliates to promote psychological and neuropsychological well-being in sport. She is the only Sports Neuropsychologist in the UK recognised by the International Sports Neuropsychology Society.

Dr Mawbey has longstanding links within sport, and particularly boxing, and is acutely aware of the politics and challenges faced by athletes and their teams. She aims to provide affordable, impartial advice and consultation for athletes and organisations within sport, so that appropriate support can be accessed from amateur to professional levels.

Dr Mawbey's Sports Neuropsychology Clinic provides expert and confidential neuropsychological and clinical assessment and rehabilitation, psychological support, advice and consultation and case management for athletes. She works closely with Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Rehabilitation Assistant colleagues where indicated, and can make onward referrals for private services from experienced professionals, where appropriate.  

Dr Mawbey is dedicated to working with boxing gyms and rugby teams to promote mental health and neuropsychological wellness. She provides free one-off seminars and training for gym staff and athletes in her local area.

Dr Mawbey has worked in leading research institutions of excellence as part of her continued commitment to providing high quality contributions to the fields of Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology research. She previously worked as a Trial Coordinator, leading two large-scale multi-site international and national research trials through the South London and Maudsley NHS trust and the Anna Freud Centre.

Dr Mawbey has further conducted neuropsychological research in world-renowned research settings including the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London and at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she completed her doctoral thesis research.
